We’re back from Dallas Market, and if I had to sum it up in one sentence, I’d say this:

My feet are tired, my phone is full of photos, and my head is full of ideas.

We go to Dallas Market twice a year to shop import items for the store, and this trip was all about Spring, Easter, Patriotic, and Everyday items for 2027.

That still sounds a little surreal when I say it out loud, but in this world, that’s the rhythm. The products have to be chosen well in advance because once orders are placed, manufacturers need time to produce everything, and then the items still have to be shipped overseas, unloaded, processed, and delivered here before the season ever arrives.

So yes, while most of us are standing in summer, I’m already thinking about spring.

What Caught My Eye for Spring 2027

One of the most fun parts of market is seeing which colors, textures, and details keep showing up from showroom to showroom.

For Spring 2027, I noticed a lot of blue. It showed up in a variety of tones and felt fresh, easy, and versatile. I also saw a lot of mossy green and earthy, natural themes, which I loved. Those palettes felt grounded and soft, while still feeling current.

There were also a few bolder, brighter designs and supplies mixed in, which added a fun contrast to the more earthy looks.

On the ribbon side, I saw ric rac coming back, along with embroidered ribbon and watercolor-style prints. It was a really interesting mix of playful detail and softer artistic elements.

And one thing I’m especially excited about is that we’ll now be carrying some John Mark Enterprises ribbon in the shop. We’ll have a few for Christmas this year and more for spring, and I know many of you will be excited about that too. If you love his bows, definitely keep your eyes open. We even designed a few ribbon bundles with one of his showroom designers, and I can’t wait to show those to you.

The Inspiration Is the Fun Part

There’s something really energizing about market when you first step into it.

You get to see beautiful displays.
Fresh product groupings.
New color directions.
Creative combinations you might not have thought of on your own.
And all those little details that start helping you see the next season take shape.

That part is inspiring.

It stretches your eye a little.
It gives you ideas.
It makes you think differently.
And it reminds you why you love creative work in the first place.

But of course, inspiration is only the beginning.

What Happens After Market

Once I get home, the real sorting starts.

This is the part where I take all the market finds, get them onto a spreadsheet, compare products, look at pricing, look at categories, and start asking the real questions.

Do we have a good mix of real touch florals and quality silks that are a little more affordable?

Do we have enough bushes, enough stems, enough greenery, enough options for different budgets and different styles?

Are we offering variety without overbuying?
Are we covering what customers actually asked for?
Are we balancing beauty with practicality?

That is the challenge.

It is one thing to love something in a showroom.
It is another thing to decide whether it makes sense for the shop.

That is the part of the process I’m in now.

One thing that helps me so much in that process is hearing directly from you.

That kind of feedback is incredibly helpful because while I won’t be able to fulfill every request, I absolutely want to pay attention to the patterns. It helps me see what people are using, what they wish was easier to find, and where I might be able to shop more intentionally.

You may not realize it, but that feedback really does shape buying decisions.

And that matters to me.

Because I never want to shop only from my own preferences. I want to shop with real customers in mind.

More Curated Pairings Are Coming

One thing I know many of you will enjoy is that you can expect to see more paired ribbon choices, bundles, and curated combinations.

I’ve already started adding some of those to the website in our Floral Design Kit section, because I know those kinds of combinations help take the guesswork out of what works well together.

Of course, you can still absolutely mix and match on your own.

But sometimes it’s nice to have a starting point.
A little shortcut.
A little “this already works” option.

And I think that’s something many of you will really enjoy more of.

A Few Notes from Home

On the family side, we celebrated Mom’s birthday yesterday.

If you know our story, then you already know we truly couldn’t do this business without her. She does so much behind the scenes, from organizing the warehouse and tracking inventory to stocking shipping boxes, picking orders, packing, and shipping. There is a good chance that if you’ve ordered from us, Mom has had a hand in your package somewhere along the way.

And tomorrow, Dad goes in for knee replacement surgery.

So if you think of him, I’d really appreciate your prayers for a successful surgery and a speedy recovery. We’ll be one man down in the warehouse for a little while, which means I’ll be spending more time out there, but we don’t expect any interruptions in shipping or operations.

A Little Fourth of July Note

Since the Fourth of July is coming up this weekend, I also just want to wish you a happy and safe holiday.

I think that’s really what this week has been about.

Coming home inspired, yes.

But also coming home ready to do the real work of narrowing, comparing, editing, choosing, and trying to build the right mix for the shop.

Because inspiration is wonderful.
But what you do with it is what really matters.

That’s the stage I’m in now.

And while it’s a lot, it’s also one of the most meaningful parts of what I do — taking all those ideas, observations, and product possibilities and trying to turn them into a collection that feels thoughtful, useful, beautiful, and worth your trust.

That’s still the goal.
And I’m grateful to keep doing it.
