This season in business is always a little funny.

On the outside, it may still feel like summer is just getting started. But behind the scenes, things are already shifting. New arrivals begin landing, restocks start coming in, and before long your mind is living in three seasons at once.

That is exactly where we are right now.

Last week, Mom and Dad were able to get four pallets of new Fall, Halloween, Christmas, and Mardi Gras inventory placed in the warehouse, and I’ve gotten everything listed on the website so you can now shop the New Arrivals section. We also received a number of restocks, and those have been updated in the system too.

And just to keep things moving, we have two more pallets arriving tomorrow with a few more new goodies and a couple more restocks.

So yes, the seasonal wheel keeps turning.

When the Business Quietly Starts Turning the Corner

This time of year is always the beginning of a quieter transition.

Not loud.
Not fully obvious yet.
But definitely happening.

More and more products will begin arriving throughout the summer as shipments make their way in from the factories, and before long the full push toward Fourth Quarter begins. That means inventory, warehousing, listing, planning, photographing, organizing, and making sure all the little pieces are in place before the busier season really takes off.

It is the kind of work that is not always flashy, but it matters.

And in a seasonal business, learning to recognize these quieter turning points is part of the rhythm.

A Devotional That Hit Home This Week

On a more personal note, I picked up a new devotional recently that I’ve really been enjoying:

The theme over the last couple of days has been rest, and I have to tell you, that one hit home.

As small business owners, many of us are wired to keep going. There is always something that needs attention. Something to order, count, list, answer, fix, or plan. And if I’m being honest, I am especially guilty of overworking.

I’m a workaholic by nature.

Rest does not always come easily to me, even when I know I need it.

So this devotional has been a good reminder that rest is not laziness. It is not wasted time. It is not a sign that you are not working hard enough.

It is necessary.

A few verses that stood out to me this week:

“He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul.” — Psalm 23:2–3

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28

“In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and in trust shall be your strength.” — Isaiah 30:15

There are so many places in Scripture where God reminds us that rest matters. Not just for the body, but for the soul.

And I think sometimes, especially in business, we forget that.

The Tension Between Staying Busy and Being Still

That has really been the thought sitting with me this week.

How do you honor a busy season without letting busyness become your identity?

How do you stay diligent without becoming constantly depleted?

How do you keep showing up faithfully without tying your worth to how productive you’ve been?

I do not have all the perfect answers to that.

But I do know this:
there will always be more to do.

More product to list.
More inventory to count.
More emails to answer.
More plans to make.
More ideas to chase.

And if we are not careful, we can spend all of our time living in the next task and never let ourselves settle long enough to be refreshed.

This devotional was a good nudge for me this week to remember that rest is part of faithfulness too.

And while we’re already living halfway in next season, we’ll be heading to market in two weeks to start shopping for Spring products for next year.

That part always feels a little wild.

But it also gives me a chance to ask something I genuinely want to know:

What do you love?

What florals do you reach for again and again?
What greenery do you always wish you had more of?
What flower types, colors, stems, or everyday basics would you love to see us carry?

I truly want to know.

Holding Both Things at Once

I think that is where this week leaves me.

Holding both things at once.

The excitement of what is arriving.
The responsibility of what needs to be done.
The fun of what is coming next.
And the reminder that even in seasons of movement, rest still matters.

That feels like the lesson this week is trying to teach me.

And honestly, I probably needed it.
