When the Season Starts to Shift

Some weeks feel big and obvious.

A trip.
A launch.
A new design.
A milestone that is easy to point to and say, “That was the week something happened.”

And then there are the quieter weeks.

The ones that do not necessarily look exciting from the outside, but still mark a shift.

That is what this week has felt like for me.

Not loud.
Not flashy.
But definitely a turning point.

Because behind the scenes, the season is starting to shift.

The Warehouse Hit a Milestone

This week, we officially finished inventory in the warehouse.

That was step one, and it feels like a real win.

Inventory is not glamorous. It is not creative. It does not make for an especially exciting photo or a beautiful reveal. But it matters.

Especially when you know the busier season is coming.

Now that inventory is done, the next phase is figuring out what systems we want to implement for picking and packing so we can make the warehouse smoother, stronger, and more accurate before fourth quarter really gets going.

We want to do everything we can to make sure orders are going out correctly. Of course, we are human and mistakes can still happen, but we want to take every precaution possible to make sure customers receive exactly what they ordered.

That kind of work may not be pretty, but it matters just as much as the visible side of the business.

The Studio Finally Changed Seasons Too

On the studio side, I also finally got my space cleaned out.

I moved all the spring florals out and brought in the leftover Fall, Halloween, and Christmas florals from last year. The floral towers have a completely new look now, and if you have ever put off a project like that because it felt overwhelming, then you already know how satisfying it is to finally have it behind you.

It was one of those tasks I had been mentally carrying for a while.

And now it is done.

Sometimes finishing something you’ve been dreading feels just as good as starting something new.

Four Pallets Later, the Shift Feels Real

As if the studio reset wasn’t enough, we also received four pallets of new product in the shop today.

And they are all over the board in the best way:
Fall,
Halloween,
Christmas,
Mardi Gras,
and Valentine.

Which sounds slightly wild when most people are just trying to enjoy summer, but if you work in seasonal product, you know this is exactly how it goes.

The products start trickling in.
The mindset starts changing.
The preparations start stacking up.
And before long, you realize the next season is already beginning.

That is what this week feels like.

The moment where things start quietly turning toward what is next.

A Little Anniversary Pause

In the middle of all the shifting, Babe and I also got to celebrate our anniversary.

We went to a restaurant in Fort Smith we had never been to before and had a really good steak dinner.

Simple.
Special.
Delicious.

And honestly, that was enough.

Those little pauses matter too.
Especially in busy seasons.
Especially when your mind is full.
Especially when life and business both keep moving.

The Podcast That Put Words to What I’ve Been Feeling

I also listened to a podcast this week that really hit home:
The Product Boss, Episode 757: Scaling Your Product Business Shouldn’t Cost Your Life (Why Your Business Needs You Less).

And wow.

That one said so much of what I’ve been feeling lately.

It talked about the cost of being overly involved in every part of your product business and how constantly being needed can actually become the very thing that limits your growth. It also touched on mindset shifts, leadership decisions, and operational changes that can help you step out of daily overwhelm and build a stronger and more profitable business.

That really landed with me.

Because when you are running a small business, it is so easy to become the person carrying too much.

The CEO.
The designer.
The buyer.
The bookkeeper.
The inventory person.
The website updater.
The shipper.
The customer service rep.
The receiving clerk.
And every other role that somehow lands in your lap too.

Even with help, it can still feel like a lot.

And lately, I have definitely felt that.

Not Every Shift Is Loud

I think that is the bigger lesson I’m sitting with this week.

Not every shift happens dramatically.

Sometimes it looks like:
finished inventory,
a cleaned-out studio,
new pallets in the warehouse,
a dinner that lets you breathe,
and a podcast that finally says out loud what you’ve been quietly feeling for a while.

Sometimes growth is not loud.

Sometimes it is just the quiet awareness that things are changing, and you need to change with them.

That is what this week has felt like for me.

A quiet turning point.
A reminder that the next season is on its way.
And maybe, if I’m paying attention, an invitation to step into it a little differently than before.

What I’m Loving Creatively Right Now

Even though summer is just getting started, my creative brain is already starting to lean toward fall and Halloween.

Lately I’ve been especially drawn to moodier seasonal colors like burgundy, plum, smoky blue, moss green, deep purple, antique gold, and soft black. There is just something about that palette that feels rich, dramatic, and seasonal without being over-the-top.

When I’m creating a seasonal design, one thing I always think about is whether it feels like something someone would actually use in their home. Not just something pretty for a picture, not just something that looks good on a craft table, but a piece that could sit on a dining table, kitchen island, entryway cabinet, mantel, or office counter and make the space feel more pulled together.

That is what I love about these deeper tones for fall and Halloween. They still give you that seasonal feeling, but in a way that feels elevated, polished, and a little more practical for everyday living. They blend beautifully into the home while still making a statement.

I think that’s the sweet spot I’m always chasing — seasonal decor that feels beautiful, intentional, and like it truly belongs in the space.

What about you? Do you like your seasonal decor more fun and festive, or more elevated and subtle?

As we head into the next season, I’m finding myself drawn to pieces that feel both seasonal and livable. Decor that still feels special, but also feels like it truly belongs in the home. That is the kind of beauty I’m always chasing, and I have a feeling you’ll be seeing more of these moodier, elevated color stories from me as the season unfolds.
