I hope you had a meaningful Mother’s Day weekend, whatever it looked like for you.
I know this holiday can carry a lot of different emotions. For some, it is full of celebration and joy. For others, it can feel tender, bittersweet, or a little heavy depending on the season of life they are in.
And I think there is room for all of that.
But my hope is that no matter what this weekend held, there was still space for gratitude, good memories, and a few meaningful moments to hold onto.
Mother’s Day was good here.
After church, we took Mom to breakfast, and then later that evening, the whole ranch family gathered at her house for dinner. My brother cooked her favorite burgers, and we got to spend time together, which always feels like a gift.
It was simple.
Nothing fancy.
Just time together.
And honestly, those are usually the moments that end up meaning the most anyway.
Celebrating Blake from a Distance

This weekend also meant celebrating our middle son Blake’s 23rd birthday.
His birthday sometimes falls on Mother’s Day, so I have always said he is one of my Mother’s Day gifts.
This year we celebrated virtually since he is still in Texas, and of course I would always rather hug my kids in person than celebrate through a screen, but I am grateful for any chance to celebrate them at all.
Blake is currently in an apprentice program with a commercial electrical company and is working toward getting his electrical license. He has been working incredibly hard, putting in six long days a week as he builds his hours, his skills, and the foundation for a career and life of his own.
We are so proud of him.
There is something both sweet and strange about this season of parenting. Watching your kids grow into their own lives can feel equal parts joyful and a little painful. You want them to spread their wings, but you also miss them while they do it.
Eventually, of course, we would love to get him back here to Oklahoma.
But right now, this is the season he is in.
This is what he is building.
And from here, we are cheering him on every step of the way.
A Visit That Filled Our Hearts
And as if the weekend wasn’t already full enough, we also got to enjoy a visit from our youngest son Seth, Kim, and sweet Julianna.
That alone would have made the week special.
Julianna will be 9 months old next week, and she is getting so big so fast. She already has 4 teeth with more coming in, she is crawling everywhere, and I don’t think it will be long before she is walking. While she was here, she was already pulling up, standing on her own, and even taking a step or two.

It is amazing how quickly babies can go from tiny and still to suddenly everywhere all at once.
She also absolutely loves her Papa and had the best time mimicking him, which of course we all got such a kick out of. Watching those little moments between them was one of those quiet joys that fills your heart up in a way that is hard to explain.
There is just something so sweet about getting to watch a little personality bloom in real time.
And with the hope that Seth and his family may move closer later this summer, every visit like this feels even more precious. Our hearts are full, and we truly cannot wait until she is close by.
The Meaning in Ordinary Moments
I think that is one of the things this weekend reminded me of again.
So much of life is lived in the ordinary moments.
A breakfast after church.
A burger cooked by your brother.
A family dinner at Mom’s house.
A birthday celebrated virtually.
A son working hard in another state.
A granddaughter pulling up and taking little steps in your living room.
A heart that feels proud, grateful, and a little tender all at once.
It is easy to think the most meaningful moments have to be the big ones.
But often, they are not.
Often, they are the quiet ones.
The familiar ones.
The ones you might miss if you are not paying attention.
And maybe that is part of what Mother’s Day can give us too.
A reason to stop and notice.
A reason to be grateful.
A reason to say thank you for the people we love and the ways they continue to shape our lives.
A Few Beauty Favorites I’ve Been Trying
Since we’re still in a Mother’s Day frame of mind, this felt like a good week to share a few beauty favorites I’ve been trying lately.
I’ve been using a few Medicube products, including the PDRN Pink Peptide Serum, the Deep Vita C Pads, and the Eye Serum.

If you have not dipped your toe into Korean skincare yet, these might be worth a try. I’ve really been enjoying them. What I’ve noticed most is that my skin feels softer, smoother, and more hydrated after using them.
And as someone who is always a little cautious when trying new skincare, I’ll also say that so far they have not caused any irritation for me, which is always a win. Of course, everyone’s skin is different, so this is simply my personal experience and not a promise that every product will work the same way for everyone.
Still, if you enjoy trying new skincare and are curious about Korean beauty products, these have been a nice little find for me lately.

A Simple Spring Planting Idea
This time of year also has me in full porch-and-patio mode.
If you are wanting to freshen up your outdoor spaces, one of the easiest planting formulas is to combine something colorful, something trailing, and something leafy or textural.
A few combinations that work beautifully:
- geraniums with sweet potato vine and fern
- petunias with creeping Jenny and coleus
- calibrachoa with ivy and eucalyptus
That kind of mix makes containers feel more layered and finished without requiring a huge design effort.

Even one well-done pot by the front door can make a space feel cheerful and welcoming.
And sometimes that is all you need.
Holding Space for All the Feelings
I know weekends like this can bring up a lot.
Joy.
Gratitude.
Pride.
Missing someone.
Remembering someone.
Celebrating what is.
Grieving what was.
Hoping for what is still to come.
And I think all of that can exist together.
This Mother’s Day weekend reminded me again that life is rarely just one feeling at a time. It is often a mix of full and tender, happy and wistful, grateful and longing.
But even in that, there is so much beauty.
And for me, this weekend held plenty of it.
A good breakfast.
A dinner with family.
A son worth celebrating.
A granddaughter growing too fast.
A mom worth honoring.
And one more reminder that simple moments really do hold so much.
