A Mother’s Day Thank You to the Woman Who Helps Hold This Business Together

With Mother’s Day coming up this weekend, I’ve been thinking a lot about all the ways mothers show up.

Not always in flashy ways.
Not always in ways the world sees.
But in the steady, faithful, everyday ways that quietly hold so much together.

And for me, this year, that thought brings me right back to my mom.

For those of you who have ordered from TCT Crafts over the years, there is a very good chance that at some point, you have experienced a little bit of her work, even if you did not realize it.

What started several years ago as Mom simply helping out when we were going out of town has slowly grown into something much bigger. These days, she is basically our warehouse manager, whether that was ever the official plan or not.

She comes in and ships orders.
She helps unbox pallets when new items arrive.
She organizes products on the warehouse shelves.
She makes sure everything is labeled so that we can actually find it later.
She keeps track of our box inventory.
And when it’s time to place a Uline order, she is the one telling me exactly what we need.

If it has anything to do with the warehouse, chances are Mom has her hands in it.

And the truth is, I could not do this business the way I do without her.

The Kind of Help That Becomes Part of the Foundation

There is something really special about the kind of help that starts small and quietly becomes part of the foundation.

That is what happened here.

At first, it was just helping here and there.
Then it became helping more often.
Then somewhere along the way, it became a real part of the daily rhythm of the business.

For someone who is technically supposed to be retired and enjoying her free time, she sure spends a lot of it down in the warehouse with me.

Sometimes I try to kick her out and tell her to go home and rest, and she just won’t leave. She genuinely enjoys it. She likes being busy. She likes helping. And she cares deeply about making sure things are done well.

That kind of heart is not something you can teach.

It just shows up.

And it shows up in your orders, in the organization behind the scenes, in the little things being where they need to be, and in the overall smooth running of a business with a whole lot of moving pieces.

Her heart and soul really do go into the work.

The Photo I’m Sharing of Mom

This week, I’m also sharing a photo of Mom that feels especially fitting for this post.

A few years ago, we took her on a European trip, and one of the highlights was getting to see the beautiful tulips in the Netherlands, something she had always wanted to do. She has also always loved the little wooden clog shoes, so the picture I’m sharing is of her standing inside a pair of oversized wooden clogs outside a cute little shop in Amsterdam.

It is one of those pictures that just feels like her.

Joyful.
Fun.
A little playful.
Full of personality.

And honestly, that feels fitting, because that is how she shows up in life and in this business too.

She works hard.
She loves well.
She gives generously.
And she somehow manages to bring both steadiness and joy into the everyday.

That photo makes me smile because it captures something true about her. Not just a memory from a special trip, but a little glimpse of her spirit.

The Women Who Keep Things Moving

I think Mother’s Day gives us such a good chance to notice that.

Not just the big obvious things moms do, but the quiet ones.

The things that happen behind the scenes.
The things that make life run more smoothly.
The work no one claps for.
The details they remember.
The ways they help carry the load without always announcing it.

Those things matter.

And in a small business, especially a family business, those things matter even more.

A business may have one name on the front, but there are often other hearts behind it helping keep it going.

That is certainly true here.

TCT Crafts may have started with my vision and creative direction, but it runs better, smoother, and stronger because my mom is part of it.

And this week, I just wanted to say that out loud.

A Personal Thank You to Mom

Mom, I know I tell you, but I want to say it here too.

Thank you.

Thank you for every box packed, every shelf organized, every pallet unloaded, every inventory note, every Uline reminder, and every day you have shown up for this business in ways big and small.

Thank you for caring about it like it matters, because it does.
Thank you for helping make it possible for me to do what I do.
Thank you for giving your time, your energy, and your heart so generously.

I truly could not do this without you.

And I hope you know how loved and appreciated you are, not just by me, but by this business and the people who receive what we send out into the world.

Mother’s Day Favorites and Thoughtful Gift Ideas

Mother’s Day also has a way of making us all pause and think about how we want to show that appreciation.

If you are still looking for a few simple ideas for Mom this week, I’m sharing a few gift favorites and last-minute ideas that could make sweet and easy options.

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

But I also want to say this too: not every meaningful Mother’s Day gift has to come wrapped in a box.

Sometimes the most meaningful things are the simplest.

A lunch date.
A handwritten note.
Her favorite dessert.
Time spent together.
Helping her with something she has been putting off.
Pulling out old photos and sharing memories.
Letting her know, specifically, what she means to you.

Those are gifts too.

And often, they are the ones remembered the longest.

Holding Space for All the Feelings Mother’s Day Can Bring

I also know Mother’s Day can feel different depending on where you are in life.

For some, it is joyful and easy.
For some, it is full and busy and happy.
For others, it can be tender.
A little bittersweet.
A little quiet.

And I think there is room for all of that.

But no matter what this weekend looks like, I do think it offers us a beautiful reason to pause and say thank you to the women who have loved us, helped us, taught us, supported us, and shown up faithfully in ways we may not even fully realize.

This year, for me, that starts with Mom.

And I could not let the week go by without saying so.
